To start filming our group need to get lots of photos together of one of the main characters, Leila. This is because these photos show both dark and bright sides of the film. The photos should be rather large so the audience can see the photos and who are in the photographs. The photographs that will go on Leila's wall should be bright, funny and happy. This is to show a normal life of a teenager who is having fun. For Danny's wall the photographs need to be destroyed to show that Leila is hated. These photographs should be destroyed by burning, ripping, drawn over and using darts. This will show anger towards Leila as normal people would not destroy somebody's photographs who they love/like.
THE PHOTOGRAPHS THAT COULD BE USED
This image is rather cheeky and is suitable for this reason, as it shows a normal life of a young girl.
This image is also rather suitable, as it is of two girls in a club, this also shows a normal life of a teenager.
This again is suitable for a similar reason as the first image, this is because this looks rather cheeky. Also the smiles on these peoples faces make everybody seem like they are having normal and happy lives.
This shows a celebration, Christmas, another proof of a normal life.
This is another smiley photograph of two young friends. Once again showing a happy life.

PRODUCTION LOGO
Once again we have used www.picnik.com to create our production logo. The 'WS' stands for Welling School. The reason for it being called 'WellingSchool production' is because we are from Welling school. The type is written on lined paper and it looks hand written, this is a representation of a school. Also there is a heart in the background. We have decided to include a heart as on the Welling School website, the logo for our school has also a heart. The colours used for the text are black, as students are most likely to use black ink pens on white lined paper. The heart has been made very light pink, as we did not want it to stand out more than the title, as the name of our production is more important, also the colour of the heart goes with the pink boarder line. No over images have been used as the fonts used make it easy to understand what the production is about. Over all it has worked rather successfully the fact of a school is represented in a clever way.
TYPOGRAPHY
This we have made using www.Picnik.com . We have decided to use this website as it is easy to use, as well as has many choices of fonts. 'Trapped in' is written in a rather messy font, as it looks dirty. This I really like, as it represents the real fact of being trapped, as in our case the girl is trapped in by her lover and violence is used against her, this is where the dirty part comes in. 'Love' we have decided to write in pink as it represents the girls feelings. We have also chosen a font which looks very hand made, this reminds of something that girls are most likely to doodle in their books while they are bored. And of course, the hearts, we have included these using 'Photoshop' as it gives of a more romantic effect. We like this design the most as everything used fits in with the narrative of the film, also it is rather catchy by the fact of bright colours used as well as bold text.
This is a very similar design to the first one. This is because the same type has been used for 'trapped in' as we thought that it works very well even if different text is added. 'Love' we have again written in pink representing the feelings of Leila. This also looks hand written, which would you see in girls doodles. However, we do not like this design as much, as it is not as catchy. The fact of it not being catchy is because it is not as bold, and therefore it would not be very noticeable by the audience.
This I am very pleased with, as even though it is in black and white you are able to know that this film is a romance. This is because it includes a big and bold word saying 'love'. 'Trapped in' has been left the same, but it fits in rather well. This time the font represents the word trapped in as it looks trapped in it's self. The word 'love' looks bruised and also dirty, this also shows the dark side of what the film may be about. How ever, thriller has been put across mostly, and this is why this design would not work. To be able to attract both genders, both of their needs have to be included.

To be able to attract both genders, both of their needs have to be included.
I am not too keen on this type of text, this is because the word Love is too sharply edged. Also some of the corners are curled up which may suggest a fantasy and not romance or thriller. I have kept the same font for Trapped in as I thought that it really works for the mysterious side of this font. The colours work rather well, as the light pink represents soft young love for Leila and the colour black represents mystery towards Danny.
This time the word love is rather girly as it has flowers on it. The colour has been left the same as it gives of the fact of romance and love. I am not too keen on this as it is a little bit too simple. Also it is not bold enough and therefore it is not very catchy. The words 'trapped in' look like they have not got a place where to go as it is much bolder than the word 'love'.
This I personaly find very successful. This is because it looks like it has been drawn by hand. Also it has a cross, a skeleton and lighting in the text, this shows the mysterious side of the film. The colour pink again, gives of a soft and warm love effect which does not let the thriller reveal as much. I also like how 'trapped in' is on top of 'love' as it makes the audience read it first.
This time the font of the words 'trapped in' have been changed. It is still rather similar to the one used before as it is worn out, once again the mysterious effect is given of. The word 'Love' looks like it has been taken out of cards and therefore it represents a game, this may mean that the film is a big game. The colours have not been changed as they work rather well together.
This I do not like as it is too dramatic with it being all over the place. Also the two fonts do not seem to go well together as one of them is sharp and looks like it has been painted and the other one looks like it has been drawn. Also, the title all together does not go with the film as it does not show the sides of both characters that well.
Once again the font has been completely changed to see if anything different will work better. Also the color has been changed to bright red, this represent passionate love as well as danger. The font is rather mysterious as there are long lines and drips added to the words 'trapped in'. The word again looks like it has been taken from cards and once again it may represent a big game in reality.
This has worked out very successfully as everything is included in the word 'love'. This is rather clear as the words 'trapped in' are very simple. The word 'love' is again bright red which again gives of an effect of passion, love and danger. The splashes look like blood and this shows the thriller genre. Personally I am very happy with this title and I think it could be taken futher.
THE DISTRIBUTOR OF OUR FILM
As a group we have decided that '20th Century Fox' should distribute our film. This is because 20th Century fox is a rather popular and big all over the world. Also, my research has showed me that this institution has mostly produced and distributed family films, this is another good reason for our film to be distributed by this institution as a lot more people are more like to recognize this institution. Another reason for us choosing this institution is for the fact that our film involves a part of a beautiful relationship.

Testing weather the product is successful and that it accomplishes the intended effect:
The product would be tested by viewing it to a number of people, when the product is viewed the pupils may fill out a questionaire. This would tell us weather it is successful or not by hearing different pupils views.
What generic codes and conventions will be operating in your text?
Our group of three, me, Robert and Courtney will introduce the production company, the seting, the main characters, Danny and Leila, as well as actors. We will show two sides of the main characters as one is a dark side and the other a bright side. However the bright side will be revealed more, as the dark side gives the whole film a mysterious theme. To show the bright side wide shots will be mainly used to include the whole image, this is to hide no secrets with a comfortable atmosphere. the Dark side should use extreme close ups, this is to hide the identity of the mystery as well as create tension and discomfort to the audience. The music should be quiet and creapy, leaving the audience confused about the theme of the film. For the bright side of the sequence, a normal house hold should be used as a atmosphere/place. To create and show the dark side of the film small and dark places should be used such as abandoned places, which should create creapy effects. All of this should put romance and thriller across easily, for both male and female genders to be attracted.
Identify any resource constraints that might affect your production and your hopes for your product:
The restraint that might mostly affect our production would be time, this is because a lot of work needs to be done in little time. The equipment that needs to be used is of course a video camera, following by a tripod , editing facilities props also. All of these are given to us by the school and therefore this is not an issue towards ur production. We would not class money as an issue as our title sequence should be mostly shot at home, also some shots may be made outside in the streets/forests/parks. If team work is fully included our title sequence should work out as planned, this is because every member of our group has a role to complete, which means if every member of group is involved in making the title sequence everything should be done. This means a successful title sequence.
TREATMENT
Narrative
Two completely different lives, of a young girl and a young boy in the city of London. Leila, lives a normal life of a young girl. Which includes looking fabulous, meeting new people, gossip and ofcourse boys. Her life also includes not so exciting things such as college, work, babysitting and cleaning her room. However, opposite to Leilas life, comes Danny. A mysterious, quiet boy who does not come out of 'his closet'. He comes from a silly peoples home. He ended up there after meeting lots of pretty young girls. Danny likes pretty young girls, and now he's after Leila.
Target audience
The target audience should be bothe female and male around the age of 16 and over. The fact of 'Trapped in Love' includes the genres of romance and thriller, this means that female audience would be attracted to the romance and male audience would be attracted to thriller. The fact of 'trapped in Love' being a 16+ film is because the film includes violence which may affect the younger generation.
How do you want them to respond to your product?
The audience should feel excitement and happyness to begin with as a new relationship begins. However the atmosphere and the emotions during the middle of the film should suddenly change to discomfort as well as tension should be created to the audience as Leila gets hurt and tortured by her loved one. The tension should then drop towards the end of the film as Leila escapes. At the evry end of the film, the audience should feel sadness as well as they should feel releaved, this is because Leila has to kill her loved one but this will keep her unhurt and safe.
How are you going to make it appeal to them?
We will apeal to the audience by making everything look rather realistic, by the use of sounds and make up. Also our film is based on a normal relationship and this would appeal to our audience chosen as real relationships start from the age 16 onwards.
How will you explore the following concepts?

Our film should start of by showing two sides of the film, which would be a dark and a bright side. In the bright side of the film long shots should be used, this is to hide no secrets by showing the audience what is going on around the characters and where they may be. However opposite to long shots, extreme close ups should be used for the dark side to create tension as well as discomfort to the audience, as little space is given. This is also to show the fact of Danny’s secrets as the tight shots hide everything in such as the background surroundings. While Leila is in danger point of view shots should be used to put the audience in her shoes to create more tension. The colours on the bright side should of course be bright and beautiful; this is to show a happy and a perfect life including a perfect relationship. The dark side should include rather dark colours such as blacks, browns, blues and dark reds. These colours added together should create a dangerous and an unpleasant atmosphere. The music should be changing quite regularly as both characters are the main characters of the film, and therefore different music should represent a different character. The music representing Leila should be quite girly and happy as she is just a normal young lady. The music representing Danny should be much different, which may include creepy melodies as Danny has mental issues. Company titles should appear first which will lead to the audience meeting the characters and the actors by their names, which will then lead onto the name of the film, ‘Trapped in Love’.
Institutions
‘Dream works’ is the distributor that we have chosen for our product, this is because this company is an American company and is very well known. Our production company is called ‘WS Productions’. WS stands for Welling School. We have decided to name it ‘WS Productions’ as we are students from Welling School. The logo is hand drawn and this represents a school, as pens/pencils are used at schools. The colours should be white and black, as black writing on paper is easily visible.
Representation
In our title sequence Leila should be represented as a normal young girl, whom gets on with her life, by meeting people and studying. The representation of the Danny should be completely opposite, which should show scenes such as him stalking pretty ladies, and destroying their photographs. This should let the audience get an idea of him being unique and unpleasant.
Genre
Our title sequence includes Romance as well as Thriller genres. This means that Romance should make people happy in their hearts and Thriller should take the happiness away and turn it into tension. To bring the happiness into the audiences hearts our group will include a happy and an excited girl who is about to fall in love. From that the dark side should take over and show the danger towards the girl, by including dark atmospheres. This then should make the audience feel sorry for the girl whom once has been the happiest girl on earth.

SAUL BASS
I have decided to research Saul Bass as he is ' the Master of Film Title Design'.
This is a title sequence made by Saul Bass. This title sequence has been made for ' The Man With the Golden Arm'. Even thought this title sequence is simply made in black and white it is rather successful. This is because the white lines used in the black backroung are moving in from the sides, this makes it affective. This fact creates a good hidden message which involves drugs. These lines give of the fact of drugs as the lines are white and normally drugs are this colour. The text used is rather small and simple, this is a good type to use as it is quite mysterious this is because it does not give away the theme of the film. The arm in the very end is very creapy as it does not look normal, by the fact of it being wobly and broken. This gives away the creaoy side of the film.
Saul Bass was an American graphic Designer and a film maker. He is best known for his design on animated motion picture title sequences. During his career he has worked for a few of Hollywoods greates film makers, which include Alfred Hitchcock, Otto Preminger, Stanley Kubrick and Martin Scorsese. His title sequences are the animated paper cut out of a heroin arm for premingers 'The Man With th Golden Arm', thetext racing up and down which becomes a high angle shot of the United Nations building in Alfred Hitchchocks North by Northwest and the disjointed text that raced together and was pulled apart for Psycho. Saul Bass designedthe sixth AT&T Bell System logo. He also designed AT&Ts globe logo after the break up of the Bell System. He also designed Continental Airlines 1968 jetstream logo which became the most recognized air line industry logo of the 1970s.
'I want everything we do to be beautiful. I don't give a damn weather the client thinks it's worth worth anything, or weather it is worth anything. It's worth to me. It's teh way I want to live my life. I want to make beautiful, even if no one cares' Says Saul Bass.

Genre
ROMANCE
Romance includes certain characters making decisions on a newly found romantic attraction. These characters are most likely to ask themselves quoestions such as 'What am I living for?' and 'Why am I with my current partner?'. The appeal of this genre has dramatic reality of the emotions which are expressed by the characters. FACT: The most successful romantic film is the 1997 blockbuster, Titanic which grossed over $600 million in America and $1.8 billion, worldwide.
Romantic films are most likely to have a happy ending or at least bittersweet. Many people may argue that a romantic filmed would not be classed as romantic with a sad ending.
Examples of Romantic films:
- P.S I Love You
- Romeo and Juliet
- Love Story
- Titanic
- The Note Book
- In The Mood For Love
- 10 Things I Hate About You
- Cell Phone
- A Walk to Remember
- City of Angels
- Casablanca
.. and many more.
THRILLER
Thriller is a genre that uses tension, excitement and suspense as the main elements. In crime thrillers, common methods are mainly ransoms, heists, revenge, kidnappings nd captivities. Investigations and the whodunit techniques are more common in mystery thrillers. Stalking, mind games, death traps, obsession and horror of personality are rather common in psychological thrillers. Paranoid thrillers use elements such as paranoia, conspiracy theories, false accusations and sometimes action. FACT: After the assassiation of President Kennedy, politicl thriller and paranoid thriller films became very popular, the brightest examples of thrillers are the Hitchcocks movies.
Examples of Thriller novels:
- The Da Vinci Code
- Patriot Games
- Survivor
-Tourist Season
- Map of Bones
- Mary Mary
- Dust to Dust
- Touble
- A Think Dark Line

The story line is also quite similar to 'Trapped in Love' as it involves a weird character which tries to destroy somebodys life. This film also beggins with a happy, new and bright life, which then turns into madness and ends up with the bad guy being killed by one of the main characters.
TITLE SEQUENCE
The title sequence of 'Pacific heights' begins with a blank screen and rather unusual sounds. It then fades into a low angle shot of a electric mill spinning. The audience are then able to recognise that the noise is coming from the mill. White shadowed writing appears on the left bottom corner, this is because there is blank space and therefore it does not hide the main object in the shot. Then the audience get introduced to the presenter of the film who is James G. ROBINSON. The image suddenly changed into a low angle shot of four electric mills spinning. The location is rather hard to tell, but the audience are most likely to think of a country side or a farm, as mills are not likely to be found in a city. More white shadowed writing appears on the screen, but this time it appears on the right hand side, in the middle. This is once again not to hide the main objects of the screen. This writing tells us the name of the producer who is Morgan Creek. The shot suddenly changes into a long shot which lets the audience see the location of where the film is set. Many more electric mills are seen on a plain land which is surrounded by mountains and this clearly shows the audience that it is not set in a city as no homes are seen. The audience are also able to see that this place can be visited by people, this is because there is a road in the middle of this plain land, the road is also easily recognized as a car drives past. The music changes to a faster tune, this goes with the spin of the mills. A name of the owner appears right at the bottom in the middle, where this also fits in perfectly as it is not in the way of viewing the atmosphere. The name of the owner is John Schlesinger. The shot changes rather quickly to the car that has been seen on the road. And now this shot pans left while one of the main characters are being introduced, Melanie Griffith. The shot then changes to a mid shot, this is when the audience are introduced to the characters by seeing them. We are able to see two men in the car, and this may mean that these two men are the main characters from the film. A name also appears, Matthew Modine. The shot suddenly changes to an extreme close up of one of the men' foot and a baseball bat. The music may make the audience think that something bad may happen, as the music is rather rough and not happy. The baseball bat also makes the men look rough as some people use baseball bats to beat people up, this also links with their expressions as they are not talking, and their looks are rather deep. The audience can easily understand that this bat and the foot belongs to one of the characters from the car as a car mat is easily seen. Just as the bat rolls to the left the shot changes into a long shot of the road and part of the land, the audience are then introduced to another character, Michael Keaton. Straight after that the name of the film appears right in the middle, this is because it is the main part of the film. As the car goes past the shot changes again to a mid shot of a different location. The fact of it being a different location is clear as the shot is of window blinds. Another name the appears which is, Laurie Metcalf. As the camera pans down another name, Carl Lumbly, comes up. To catch the audience attention the names dissapear and different names appear in different places, this automatically makes the audience look as not a lot is going on in the scene. The camera then pans down to a pile of books on the floor and another name comes up, Mako. The music then changes to a romantic music as well as the shot flips to a shot of a dark shadow and starts to pan up showing the audience another name, Dorian Harewood. As the camer pans up we are able to see a bag on the floor, as the mood is set for romance, this begins the wondering of the audience, who the bag may belong to. The shot changes into a night time shot which is a long shot of the room that they have seen details of. This is clear as the blinds are the same. We are also able to see the owner of the bag, who is a naked lady in a bed with a man. This now creates a full romance scene. Now the text changes into a purple colour, which may give of a hint of romance. The text now tells us that the film has been casted by Malin Finn. The view of the room is not that clear, this may be to hide the characters identities, to make the audience want to know who they are. The fact of making it look unclear has been completed in a very clever way, this can be seen when the camera zooms out. This shows us the camera zooming out of a TV screen, the reflection of the room. The TV also introduces us to the time of when the film has been set, this is very clear as the TV looks rather old. The costume designers are then introduced to the audience, who are Ann Roth and Bridget Kelly. More writting appears telling us who the music had been created by, Hans Zimmer. The audience are then able to hear noises comming from the characters, which may represent love. The camera then pans down, proving us the time of the film, as the TV table also looks old. The editors name comes up as the camera pans down, Mark Warner. The time that the film has been made also is shown to the audience by showing old, black and white photographs which have been left on the floor. More writting comes up including the name of production designer, Neil Spisak. As the camera is zooming into a photograph the name of the director of photography appears, Amir Mokri. Another location is shown to the audience by birds eye view of the outside of the room/house/flat. It looks rather rich, as people have swimmingpools in their gardens and the houses look rather big. More writing is shown to us. The camera pans right introducing the audience to the town/city. The music changes into arabic music, which may mean that this film has been set in a hot country. A huge sign then appears saying 'Sun Hills Estates at Palm Desert'. This straight away makes the audience think that is has been set in a desert. However, the audience have been tricked as it is only a model of a town/city. As the camera zooms out we are able to see this clearly, as the surroundings are inside of a building. The fountain and the cactuses in the back may still leave the audience thinking that it is set in a rich and hot country. The producers are also included on the screen. The truck that we have seen before appears behind the fountain, we are bale to recognise this as it is red as well as by the noise it makes. We then hear the car door shut, and we are able to see one person walking to the left. The shot from day light turns into an extreme close up of a glass of an orange drink, which a woman is putting her hand in. It is clear that it is at night time as the background is rather dark, also we are able to tell that it is a women as she has a ring on, and her fingers are thin. White letters are able to be seen on the black background which tells us who has written this film. The audience are then introduced to the main characters and are able to see that the hand belongs to the woman. The shot changes into a mid shot and we are able to see her taking out ice out of the glass and putting it in her mouth. The lady is naked and therefore men would be rather attracted to the film. Romance can then be easily seen as the man behind the woman kisses the woman. More writing comes up 'produced by Scott Rudin and William Sackheim'. As when the glass has been shown it looked like night time it is actually day time, this is very clear as the window in the background is rather bright. The lady lays down and the man moves an ice cube across her back, this may show the audience that the location that the film is set in is rather warm, this is because the lady does not mind the freezing ice cube going across her back. the name of the director appears, John Schlesigner. This title sequence has interesting shots as well as it is mysterious by the changes of the music as well as the changes between day and night time. This is a good title sequence as it introduces us to where it has been set in a clever way, by not revealing the whole scene. I think that this title sequence is better than the 'Fatal Attraction' title sequence as it includes more details, where the 'Fatal Attraction' title sequence only introduces us to the city, night time and the characters. But, I really like the 'Fatal Attraction' title sequence as it is very simple and easy to understand, where 'Pacific Heights' includes lots and lots of information and different shots.

How does this film relate to our film in the making?
The story line is also quite similar to 'Trapped in Love' as it involves a weird character which tries to destroy somebodys life. This film also beggins with a happy, new and bright life, which then turns into madness and ends up with the bad guy being killed by one of the main characters.
