Genre

ROMANCE

Romance includes certain characters making decisions on a newly found romantic attraction. These characters are most likely to ask themselves quoestions such as 'What am I living for?' and 'Why am I with my current partner?'. The appeal of this genre has dramatic reality of the emotions which are expressed by the characters. FACT: The most successful romantic film is the 1997 blockbuster, Titanic which grossed over $600 million in America and $1.8 billion, worldwide.

Romantic films are most likely to have a happy ending or at least bittersweet. Many people may argue that a romantic filmed would not be classed as romantic with a sad ending.

THRILLER

Thriller is a genre that uses tension, excitement and suspense as the main elements. In crime thrillers, common methods are mainly ransoms, heists, revenge, kidnappings nd captivities. Investigations and the whodunit techniques are more common in mystery thrillers. Stalking, mind games, death traps, obsession and horror of personality are rather common in psychological thrillers. Paranoid thrillers use elements such as paranoia, conspiracy theories, false accusations and sometimes action. FACT: After the assassiation of President Kennedy, politicl thriller and paranoid thriller films became very popular, the brightest examples of thrillers are the Hitchcocks movies.
